Blood Donation Drive
Leo Rosten once said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy- but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.” Doing justice to this spirit, over 200 students of NMIMS and other sister colleges came together on November 4, 2014 to witness the Blood Donation Drive organized by Social Responsibility Forum (SRF), NMIMS, in collaboration with Lion’s club of Juhu, which was supported by Think Foundation.
The Social Responsibility Forum at NMIMS organized a session with PUKAR, abbreviation for Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action and Research on October 14, 2014. The topic for discussion was ‘Life of Local Train Hawkers’.
A Memorable Day at Spastics Society
A visit to National Resource Centre for Inclusion, Bandra, Mumbai was organized on October 11, 2014 as a part of the Joy-of-Giving week by NMIMS. The purpose of the daylong event was to engage the students in multiple fun filled games and enriching activities.
A life without a cause is a life without an effect. To trigger that effect, the Social Responsibility Forum organized the NGO Mela. A competition among various teams of the colleges in the NMIMS University which tested their sales and marketing skills which in turn created smiles on the faces of those associated with the NGOs.
Whiz Mantra Guest Session
Mr. Abhishek Chakraborty, the Founder and Director of Whiz Mantra Educational Solutions conducted a guest lecture on the topic “Social Entrepreneurship in Education: The road less travelled”. Whiz Mantra is an organization which aims at providing various education services at the grass root levels. Mission of Whiz Mantra is to create a revolution in teaching, through educated youth who would work hand in hand to eliminate all educational inequalities in the country with futuristic teaching modules and methodologies.
Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry Case Study competition
A case study competition on Sustainability practices organized by Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with Social Responsibility Forum – NMIMS.
A three day extravaganza, Sadbhavana is an annual flagship event organized by SRF during the first quarter of the year. It aims at sensitizing the students with respect to the need of their intervention in helping the society face issues it faces. B-plan competitions, T-shirt painting, Photography competition are some of the events which form a part of Sadbhavana as we strive to arouse a sense of social responsibility among students.
With an idea of helping NGOs showcase and sell their products, the Social Responsibility Forum (SRF) organizes NGO Mela in the month of August. To scale up the sale of products, a competition between teams was organized. Each team has to help the NGOs to sell their products to prospective customers. The event is a daylong event and has been gaining momentum in terms of total sales over the years.
