When you run a marathon, you run against the distance, not against the runners and definitely, not against the time.
With the help of all our sponsors and participants, the SRF Marathon 2018 ran against food and water wastage on 7th January 2018 from 6 am onwards. The 7 Km route which started from Dena Bank at Vile Parle and ended at NM stationery was via the Juhu Beach, with the base as JRM Ground.
With over 350 entries, both from within and outside, we saw the most compelling runners inspiring others to do their best. On the event day, we witnessed many people who had pre-registered come and many more on-spot registrations. All participants were given refreshments in the form of biscuits, Glucon-D, fruits, and water. From NMIMS, while Aishwarya Singh and Shruti Saran stood out in the Women’s category, Akarsh Mahendra and Akash Goel emerged victorious in the Men’s category. We had participants from outside NMIMS who, too, made it in good time. In fact, the overall winner was one such extremely dedicated outside student.
It was indeed the efforts of the entire SRF team- seniors and juniors, which ensured the success of the event. Right from the launching of an inspiring video and social media campaign to getting awe-inspiring sponsors on onboard, the volunteers worked for the event to be a great success. For on-campus promotions, we had small fitness competitions like push-ups to select a couple from every class as the torchbearers. With ONGC as our advertising sponsor, Cloud9 as our refreshment partner, DailyFit as our fitness sponsor, New Age Yoga as our yoga sponsor, Nanavati Hospital as our medical partner and various other sponsors, we got media coverage from Radio City.
