The NGO Mela was organized over a period of two days, 13th and 14th August, 2018 and provided a wide range of shopping options for NMIMS students. The main objective behind organizing the Mela was to create a connection between the students and the NGOs by creating a platform for the NGOs to showcase their products. The underlying intention was to create awareness regarding the various causes associated with these NGOs. The event garnered a lot of positive reviews from both the students and faculty at NMIMS. They were excited to see the many beautiful and ornate handicrafts and also bought a lot of the items on display. The visitors couldn’t get enough of the mouth-smacking brownies and chaats and were delighted with the choices available. The college was lit up by the joyous air of the success of the event can be attributed to the 15 NGOs who were involved in the Mela. Multiple stalls were set up in the two lounges on the fifth floor. The event witnessed participation from NGOs like CRY, Sahara, Arpan, Touching Lives, Manisha , Lakshya Art and many more. The mela had something to offer for everyone. Dainty jewelry, handmade artifacts, block printed kurtas and stylish cotton bags enchanted the students. Decorative key chains, wallets, notebooks and dreamcatchers captured everyone’s attention. The foodies had a feast with numerous delectable options like chocolates, brownies, cupcakes, sandwiches and even chaat! The most entertaining part of the Mela was the caricature stall where many students got their caricature portrait drawn from a professional artist. the NGO mela considering the large number of people who turned up for the event. Not only the lounges but also the corridors were full of chatter and enthusiasm with students selling the Mela items to their batch mates and seniors as a part of the competition which was held to propagate the good cause. The overall sale of the NGO mela amounted to a whopping 1.4 lakhs. The purpose of the NGO mela was to spread awareness and provide a helping hand to the various social causes which require our due attention. The NGO mela was undisputedly a huge triumph in this regard.
